What to check before relying on a COA

A practical checklist for connecting a test report to the material you plan to procure.

Start with identity

Match the product name, labeled specification, batch number and laboratory task number. An impressive result on a different sample is not evidence for the material in your proposed order.

Check the scope of the test

Read which measurements were actually performed. Identity, chromatographic purity, net content and other attributes answer different questions. Do not infer a result that the report does not contain.

Keep the original record

Review the complete original document and any laboratory verification details. Confirm the offered batch with your sales contact before payment. Historical records provide context; they do not automatically cover new inventory.
