CJC-1295 proteomics: candidate biomarkers need independent validation

A small serum-proteomics study searched for signals of GH and IGF-I activity.

01 / DESIGN

What was studied?

Serum samples from 11 healthy young men were compared before and one week after CJC-1295 exposure. Protein spots were separated by gel electrophoresis and selected changes were investigated using mass spectrometry.

02 / FINDINGS

What did the researchers report?

Several spots changed, including forms or fragments associated with apolipoprotein A1, transthyretin, hemoglobin, immunoglobulin and albumin. One spot containing immunoglobulin and albumin fragments correlated with IGF-I.

03 / INTERPRETATION

What are the limits?

Exploratory signals in 11 people are candidate biomarkers, not validated diagnostic tests. Protein identification does not prove a causal pathway or clinical benefit. Independent cohorts and analytical validation would be needed before relying on these patterns for a testing decision.
