Ipamorelin PK/PD: linking exposure to a short-term hormone response

An early volunteer study modeled peptide exposure and growth-hormone measurements.

01 / DESIGN

What was studied?

A dose-escalation investigation enrolled healthy male volunteers in groups of eight. Researchers measured ipamorelin concentrations and growth hormone, then fitted a pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic model to the observed time courses.

02 / FINDINGS

What did the researchers report?

Exposure was approximately dose-proportional in the investigated range. A transient growth-hormone response followed exposure, and the model characterized its time course. Between-person variation was larger for response parameters than for exposure parameters.

03 / INTERPRETATION

What are the limits?

A fitted hormone-response model is not a treatment protocol and cannot establish improvements in health or performance. The participants were selected healthy men and observation was short-term. Different formulations and research materials cannot be assumed to reproduce these findings.
